Haskell Company is seeking experienced fabricators to layout, fit, and weld structural steel components according to shop drawings and project specifications. The role involves setting up equipment, performing tack welding, and assembling parts with bolted and welded connections.

Candidate must read shop drawings, interpret weld symbols, and verify dimensions to ensure tight tolerances. Occasional travel and safe operation of cranes are required in a dynamic shop environment.

Qualifications

  • Four years of experience in structural steel fabrication or fitting preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate dimensions, tolerances, fit-up requirements, and fabrication quality.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

  • Plan layout, assembly, and welding based on drawings and specs.
  • Lay out and fit structural steel components per fabrication drawings.
  • Set up equipment and perform tack welding for final assembly.
  • Assemble parts using bolted and welded connections as required.
  • Repair and modify assemblies by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, fitting and reassembling parts.
  • Measure and verify dimensions to meet tolerances.
  • Inspect assemblies for dimensional accuracy and fit-up quality.
  • Operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment safely.

Scope of Position

Responsible for the lay out , fit- up, and assembly of structural steel and miscellaneous metal components
and assemblies in accordance with shop drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Job Responsibilities
  1. 1. Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry,
    physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
  2. 2. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits structural steel components and assemblies in accordance with
    fabrication drawings and specifications. Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication details,
    assembly drawings, and weld symbols to accurately layout and fit structural steel assemblies.
  3. 3. Sets up equipment and performs tack welding activities required to assemble and secure
    components for final welding
  4. 4. Assembles parts using bolted and welded connections as required by shop drawings and
    specifications.
  5. 5. Repairs and modifies assemblies by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, fitting, and reassembling
    parts using cutting equipment, straightening presses, hand tools, and fabrication equipment.
  6. 6. Measure and verify dimensions to ensure assemblies meet drawing requirements and established
    tolerances.
  7. 7. Utilize measuring tools, layout tools, squares, levels, and other fabrication equipment to perform
    fitting activities.
  8. 8. Inspect assemblies for dimensional accuracy, fit - up quality, orientation, and compliance with
    fabrication drawings.
  9. 9. Operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment safely when properly trained and
    authorized.
  10. 10. Follow all company safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
  11. 11. Travel as required.
  12. 12. Other duties which may be assigned as needed.
Education & Years of Experience

Four years experience in a rele vant field preferabl y structural steel fabrication or fitting experience preferred

Qualifications
  1. 1. Ability to evaluate dimensions, tolerances, fit - up requirements, and fabrication quality using
    measurable standards.
  2. 2. Ability to work within established dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
  3. 3. Ability to interpret shop drawings and visualize two - dimensional drawings as completed three -
    dimensional assemblies.
  4. 4. Ability to identify discrepancies in drawings, dimensions, fit - up, orientation, and fabricated
    assemblies.
  5. 5. Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to safely utilize fabrication tools, measuring devices, and
    fitting equipment.
Job Description

    overhead cranes, welding operations, noise, heat, dust, machinery, and other conditions typical of a
    structural steel fabrication environment when proper safety proce dures are not followed.

  8. 13. Ability to use measuring devices, layout tools, squares, levels, and other fabrication tools to
    accurately fit structural steel assemblies.
  9. 14. Ability to verify dimensions and maintain required fabrication tolerances.
  10. 15. Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment when properly trained
    and authorized.
  11. 16. Certification in Welding 3G preferred.
  12. 17. Certification in Tack Welding required
