Job summary

NABRICO Marine Products is seeking a Safety Oriented Lead Fitter at its Caruthersville, Missouri barge manufacturing plant. You will lay out, fit, and assemble metal parts according to blueprints and sketches, inspecting tack welds for conformance to specs.

Responsibilities include measuring to specification, cutting with oxy-fuel, and possibly operating an overhead crane. Candidates must have 4+ years of structural fitter experience and be able to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of structural fitter experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Tack welds and welding work per specs.
• Must pass tack welding test with oxy-fuel torch.
• Comfort with heights and working at elevations.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

NABRICO Marine Products is searching for a Safety Oriented Lead Fitter in our Caruthersville, Missouri barge manufacturing plant. As a Lead Fitter, you will lay out, position, align, and fit together fabricated parts of metal according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches in preparation for welding. You will also inspect tack-welds completed by the assigned welder, or in some cases their own tack welding work, for conformance to specifications. Our assemblers get to see what they have built on waterways across the country.

What will you do:

• Read blueprints or other specifications
• May operate overhead crane
• Measure to specifications
• Identify parts for assembly in proper order
• Cut and wash with torch (Oxy Fuel)
• Tack weld pieces together

What you will need:

• Minimum of 4 years of structural fitter experience
• Ability to work with a tape measure and determine center point
• Able to perform basic math calculations using fractions; carpenter's math
• Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints
• All Fitters must pass a tack welding test; six-part practical test using an oxy-fuel cutting torch
• May require working above ground
• Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights
• May require working in narrow or confined workspaces for extended periods of time
• May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of time
• Must be able to perform fitting and welding work while wearing all required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a filtering face piece and /or tight-fitting respirator
• Willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed
