Job summary

Advantage Steel & Construction, LLC in Saxonburg, PA is seeking an experienced Fitter/Fabricator to prepare and fabricate structural steel components from drawings and specifications. You will read blueprints, fit parts, and weld according to WPS, contributing to projects for bridges, buildings, and infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of structural steel fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fitting and fabrication processes.
  • Experience with welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel preferred.
  • Experience with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code is a plus.
  • Ability to successfully complete welder qualification testing in multiple positions.
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment such as: Press brakes, Shears, Ironworkers, Drill presses and magnetic drills, Oxyfuel and plasma cutting equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Safety-minded approach to all work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical or trade school training is a plus
  • Experience working in an AISC, AWS, ASME, or API-certified fabrication environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

As a Fitter/Fabricator, you will be responsible for preparing, fitting, and fabricating structural steel components according to drawings, specifications, and established quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

A Typical Workday

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM. Some flexibility is required, and extended hours may be necessary based on project schedules and production needs.

Occasional night or weekend work may be required for project or operational needs.

Safety-Sensitive Position

This is a Safety-Sensitive Position that may involve work on project sites, including federal projects, as well as work in a heavy manufacturing environment with potentially life-threatening hazards.

The position may require working at heights, around heavy equipment, near high-voltage systems, and in constantly changing work environments. Project work may occasionally require night or weekend work.
