Job summary

KP Staffing in Haltom City, TX seeks a skilled Fitter to lay out, fabricate, fit, and join steel components per drawings and specs. You will ensure proper fitting before welding and meet quality standards.

You will read blueprints, use measuring tools, and operate cranes and hand tools in a shop environment with overtime and Saturday work as needed. A valid BP/diploma and experience in structural metal trades are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16 inch.
• Basic shop math skills, including fractions, decimals, and geometry.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Must pass MICA's New-Hire Fitter Assessment.
• 1+ year of fitting/fabrication experience in structural steel or related metals.
• Overhead/jib crane experience or ability to certify.
• Ability to work overtime.
• Must be able to work Saturdays as needed.
• Ability to work in a shop environment with seasonal temperature extremes.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fit, fabricate, and join steel components according to drawings and specifications
• Locate seams and properly position structural components
• Lay out and fit base plates, flange plates, brackets, ground sleeves, and other attached parts
• Fabricate multi-component parts and verify measurements using tape measures, squares, levels, and templates
• Operate overhead and jib cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, and hand/power tools
• Inspect fit-up quality and ensure components meet production requirements
• Maintain equipment and report needed repairs
• Cross-train and support additional production tasks as needed
• Maintain production standards and a clean, organized work area

Job Summary

The fitter will lay out, fabricate, fit, and join steel components used in structural applications. This position works directly from drawings and specifications to ensure components are properly fitted before welding and meet quality standards.

Pay

$22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Retention Bonus

Eligible fitter new hires may earn up to $5,000 through a retention bonus program, subject to program requirements.

Shift

Monday - Friday
5:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.
Saturdays as needed

Experienced fitters may qualify at different classification levels based on experience and practical testing.
