Job summary

Epic Piping is seeking a Fitter to join our fabrication team in Livingston, LA. You will lay out, assemble, bolt, clamp and weld piping systems and related components, working closely with cutting operations and bay pulling to ensure materials are ready for fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Lay out, position, align and fit components together in various body positions; bolt, clamp, and weld piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes.
  • Remove excess weld, slag and spatter; degrease weld joints as needed.
  • Preheat work pieces and cut metal shapes.
  • Examine welds for bead size and specifications.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.

Epic Piping has an exciting opportunity available for a Fitter to be an integral part of our Fabrication team. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Work in conjunction with other departments (Cutting operations and bay pulling) to ensure all relative materials are properly staged and ready for fabrication.
  • Lay out, position, align and fit components together in various body positions. - Bolt, clamp, and weld together metal components of products, such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes.
  • May clean or degrease weld joint or workplace, using wire brush, or portable grinder.
  • Remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag and spatter, using handheld grinder or gas torch, hand scrapper, grinder, or power chipper.
  • Preheat work piece, using hand torch.
  • Cut metal plates or structural shapes.
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Load, transport, and unload material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; preferred

  • Certification/Licenses: None specifically required
