Description

National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA, is seeking a fitness trainer to work with our Adult Men and Women in treatment.

Pay rate:

$28-$35 per hour with a possibility to earn more based on experience, degrees, and qualifications.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position working every other weekend, Saturdays and Sundays, from 7am to 5pm.

Requirements:
  • Must be a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT).
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Preferred:
  • Experience working with adults with mental health issues or addiction.
Summary:

This role involves working with patients in our adult residential substance use treatment programs, overseeing aerobic activities (spinning, stationary bike routines), strength training (TRX), stretching, and floor routines tailored to individual class needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with adult patients of all fitness levels, emphasizing proper technique and functional movements.
  • Demonstrate exercises and routines, monitor progress, and adapt programs accordingly.
  • Ensure safety and proper use of equipment, provide educational resources on nutrition and lifestyle, and design workouts to activate neuroendocrine responses.
  • Educate patients on maintaining a healthy lifestyle to support recovery and minimize cravings.
  • Administer fitness assessments.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, kinesiology, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience working with patients with substance use disorder or PTSD.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Must be a Certified Personal Trainer.
