Job summary

HealthFitness is opening a brand-new site in Omaha, NE, and is seeking a Fitness Program Coordinator to help launch the center from day one. You will build relationships, plan engaging fitness programs and events, and welcome members to create a positive community experience.

You will oversee program development, coordinate delivery, and lead staff in delivering high-quality fitness activities while promoting health and wellness across the site.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in Exercise Science, Recreation, Kinesiology or related discipline is required or equivalent experience.
  • OSHA compliant Adult/First Aid/CPR/AED from recognized authorities.
  • Industry recognized Group Exercise certification (ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA) or equivalent; if not current, required within 60 days of hire.
  • NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification required within 60 days of hire if not current.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting, marketing, and promotions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Pre-employment drug test required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, coordinate, marketing and/or implement designated recreation and fitness programs and events to maximize participation and engagement.
  • Manage program delivery processes and teams; ensure staff are trained and monitor quality and outcomes.
  • Possibly instruct group exercise classes and participate in facility events and supervision.
  • Oversee programming within designated areas; evaluate and adjust programs to maximize participation and customer satisfaction; supervise staff and services.
  • Coordinate marketing of programs to maximize outreach and engagement; produce promotional materials.
  • Collect and analyze outcomes data to measure effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in business planning and budgeting related to programs and services.

Responsible for the development, planning, coordination, marketing and/or implementation of designated recreation and fitness programs and events, maximizing participation and engagement. Manages program delivery process and teams, ensures all staff are properly trained, monitors quality and reports on program outcomes. May also participate in program delivery and perform other staff responsibilities such as instructing group exercise classes; attending facility events; and fitness floor coverage and facility oversight.

Key Accountabilities

Oversees all programming within designated areas; develops, coordinates, manages, implements, and evaluates recreation and fitness programs within specified program areas to maximize participation, outcomes and customer satisfaction and supervision of programs, services, and staff. Ensures staff is properly trained and certified.

Facilitates the close alignment of programs with the client's business needs, employee culture and corporate health strategies. Coordinates marketing of programs to maximize outreach and engagement; develops and distributes electronic and print promotional materials to communicate program offerings and special events.

Gathers program outcomes data and measures results; evaluates and reports on program effectiveness in meeting objectives and makes recommendations for future program enhancements or modifications.

Participates in business planning and budgeting process relating to program and service offerings in their area of expertise.

Provides individual and group exercise instruction as applicable; educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associate's degree or higher in Exercise Science, Recreation, Kinesiology or related discipline and 1+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
  • OSHA compliant Adult/First Aid/CPR/AED from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, National Safety Council, or American Safety & Health Institute.
  • Industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA; if not current, will be required within 60 days of hire.
  • NCCA Accredited Personal Trainer certification from an Industry recognized and HealthFitness approved agency; if not current, will be required within 60 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting, marketing, and promotions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
  • Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.
  • The compensation range for this role is $19.00 - $25.00 per hour.
  • Additional commission opportunities for someone with an industry recognized and HealthFitness approved Personal Trainer certification.
