Job description

Fitness Instructor – Part-Time / Non-Exempt

Join us to apply for the Fitness Instructor – Part-Time / Non-Exempt role at ASM Global.

Under direct supervision, the Fitness Instructor provides group fitness instruction, monitors, educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants. ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  1. Instruct scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provide effective fitness skills and lessons.
  2. Instruct patrons on appropriate workout methods; explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises, and identify muscle groups.
  3. Prepare equipment, music, and handouts for each class.
  4. Assist patrons, answer questions, and foster a positive fitness experience.
  5. Keep management informed of customer and facility needs.
  6. Ensure safety standards are met and policies are adhered to.
  7. Implement and regulate facility policies and procedures.
  8. Perform other related duties as required.

Skills Required: Previous teaching experience in a group setting, ability to teach fitness classes (Fitness, Boot Camp, Strength Training, Cardio, Interval Training), self-motivated, excellent communication and customer service skills, punctuality, organization, and responsibility. Maintain safety standards and policy adherence.

Qualifications: Must possess current Red Cross CPR certification, Certified Instructor (ACE, AFAA) or equivalent. Additional certifications preferred. Knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, training principles, and group fitness strategies. Professionalism and motivation skills required. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands: Frequently walk, stand, sit for long hours, work with fitness equipment. Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds; assist participants as needed. Must have endurance to complete instruction sessions.
