Job summary

City of Englewood seeks an energetic Group Fitness Instructor to join our recreation team and lead SilverSneakers classes. You will design engaging workouts and tailor programs for all fitness levels in a welcoming community setting, ensuring safety and proper technique.

The ideal candidate holds a nationally recognized group fitness certification and SilverSneakers, CPR/AED current (or within 6 months), and has at least two years of related experience in fitness programming.

SUMMARY

We seek a dynamic, passionate, and motivating Group Fitness Instructor to join our fitness team. If you thrive on positively impacting others’ lives and enjoy designing personalized fitness journeys, this is the perfect opportunity! This position will lead SilverSneakers formatted Group Fitness classes as needed by the Recreation Departments.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Recreation Supervisor

Direct Reports: None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design class format and lead patrons through safe workouts, ensuring proper technique with all equipment
• Play an integral role in our mission to inspire, educate, and empower individuals to achieve their fitness goals
• Ability to communicate effectively to establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public
• Offer professional exercise modifications as needed, catering to all fitness levels, including those with specials needs
• Attends staff meetings and required employee trainings. When requested, attends special events to promote the fitness department

EDUCATION

• Must be 18 years or older with completion of High School Diploma or GED

RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

• Prefer at least two years of related job experience
• Any prior or current experience with SilverSneakers group class formats or newly attained a SilverSneakers Instructor certification.
• Will have knowledge of the principals and practices of fitness programming

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, or CERTIFICATIONS

• Must have a nationally recognized certification in a group fitness format and SilverSneakers Instructor certification.
• Must have current certifications in CPR/AED or must obtain in 6 months of employment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to design innovative, fun, and challenging workout programs for all fitness levels
• Strong knowledge of the principles and practice of fitness programming.
• Is comfortable working with a diverse clientele ranging from young adults to elderly of all various fitness levels in a group setting
• Availability to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and occasionally at different locations within the community.

PHYSICAL EXERTION

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

HOURLY PAY RANGE

$19.75 - $29.62/Hourly Pay Rate
