Job summary

HealthFitness, a Trustmark company, seeks a substitute/as-needed Fitness Floor Attendant for our New York, NY fitness center. Shifts run 5:15AM–1:00PM or 11:30AM–8:00PM and hours vary by demand. You’ll supervise the floor, greet members, and support program participants.

Responsibilities include equipment safety, front-desk service, basic maintenance, and mentoring on proper equipment use. CPR/AED and First Aid are required; HS diploma or GED required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR/AED & First Aid certifications required.
• Prior fitness and customer service experience preferred.
• Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lb and work in a gym environment.

• Welcomes members at front desk and inputs data into membership system.
• Performs facility maintenance and keeps areas clean and stocked.
• Understand and execute Emergency Medical Procedures throughout the facility.

HealthFitness has a new opportunity for a substitute/as-needed/on-call (number of hours per week based on demand and scheduling) Fitness Floor Attendant to join our team within our fitness center located in New York, NY!

Current as-needed/fill-in scheduling needs: 5:15AM- 1:00PM or 11:30AM - 8:00PM

Responsible for providing exercise floor supervision and interacting with members and program participants within the fitness center.

Key Accountabilities

• Interacts with participants and monitors equipment and participant safety.
• Welcomes members by greeting, answering questions, responding to requests while at front desk and input data into membership system.
• Performs facility maintenance responsibilities; ensures facility, equipment and locker rooms are clean and always stocked.
• Understand and execute the Emergency Medical Procedures throughout the facility.
• Demonstrate and instruct on the proper use of exercise equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Adult CPR/AED & First Aid certifications from the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or the American Safety & Health Institute will be required.
• Prior fitness and customer service experience strongly preferred.
• Computer application knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) strongly preferred.
• Physical demands require having the ability to lift up to 40 lb. weights for restacking.
• Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.

Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test. The compensation range for this role is $16/hr - $20/hr. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
