This position plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-managed fitness environment for students, faculty, staff, and authorized guests. This position requires a strong sense of accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to unexpected situations. The Facility Coordinator represents the department during all assigned shifts and is expected to provide professional and courteous service at all times.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**The Fitness Center Attendant will oversee daily operations at the recreation fitness center, including managing check-ins and verifying the eligibility of all patrons entering the facility. This role requires maintaining accurate attendance records, enforcing facility policies and procedures, and ensuring that all participants adhere to safety guidelines. The Attendant will provide general assistance to gym users, answer questions regarding equipment use and facility rules, and maintain a professional presence throughout each shift.In addition to front desk responsibilities, the Fitness Center Attendant will monitor the fitness floor to ensure equipment is being used safely and appropriately. The Attendant will routinely inspect equipment and promptly report any malfunctions, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards to supervisors. Maintaining a clean and organized environment, including light cleaning and re-racking of weights, is an important component of this role.This position will also oversee free hour intramural activities, ensuring games and open recreation periods operate smoothly and safely. The Attendant will monitor participation, enforce recreation policies, address minor disputes professionally, and escalate concerns when necessary. Other duties as assigned. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain attentive in an active environment are essential.The ideal candidate is dependable, approachable, and able to work independently while maintaining high levels of awareness.This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, maintain active supervision of the fitness space, and respond quickly in emergency situations.
