Overlook Mass is seeking a Fitness Center Associate to maintain a safe, healthy exercise environment and deliver excellent customer service. Qualifications

  • Educational background in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Health Education, or a related field preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification required.
  • Excellent oral communication skills to collaborate positively with members and staff.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and video systems.

Responsibilities

  • Orient members to use machines properly.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and encourage appropriate attire.
  • Provide a friendly environment by learning members' names and introducing members to each other.
  • Coach members on proper techniques using positive reinforcement.
  • Provide ongoing fitness education as part of daily communication with members.
  • Keep fitness center, equipment, and pool clean at all times.
  • Return equipment to proper places and report issues to the Director.
  • Answer the phone, give tours, and register new members.
  • Create signs and informational documents.
  • Collaborate to create new activities and challenges for the fitness center and pool.
  • Support all programs and offerings, including the Overlook Mission.
  • Lead, assist, and substitute fitness center programs and classes.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Incorporate the Culture of Excellence.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by leadership.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Wellness and Vitality, the Fitness Center Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy exercise environment, ensuring that members have a positive experience, and adhering to policies and protocols while providing excellent customer service.

POSITION DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for orientating members to use the machines properly.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by wearing appropriate clothing and footwear, and encourage members to do the same.
  • Provide a friendly environment for the members by introducing yourself, learning members’ names, and introducing members to each other.
  • Be a positive example to the members, encourage and coach members on proper techniques using positive reinforcement.
  • Provide an open environment of ongoing fitness education as part of daily communication with members.
  • Ensure the fitness center, equipment, and pool are always clean.
  • Return all equipment to their proper place and report any issues with equipment or members directly to the Director of Wellness and Vitality.
