Job summary

Natives of Kodiak Incorporated is seeking a Fisheries Technician to support USACE projects with field sampling near dams and fish facility monitoring. This full-time seasonal role runs through November, with an anticipated September start and about 40 hours per week, plus potential overtime. Housing may be available.

The position involves identifying juvenile salmonids, recording data in spreadsheets, and reporting to state and federal agencies. A natural resources degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a fisheries technician or biologist evaluating the health of juvenile salmonids.
• Experience with fish handling and anesthetizing fish.
• Experience at a large hydroelectric project or smolt collection facility.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access).

Responsibilities

• Assist with sampling fish at hydroelectric projects, identify species, weigh/measure, and note injuries.
• Record information accurately in spreadsheets and prepare weekly/annual reports.
• Conduct fishway inspections to ensure compliance with the Fish Passage Plan.
• Identify predators and support reporting to state and federal agencies.

Be appreciated for a job well done That is exactly what it is like working for the Natives of Kodiak family of companies Environmental Assessment Services LLC EAS is a nationally known scientific environmental characterization company based in Eastern Washington since 2005 Build your career with us EAS has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Fisheries Technician to assist on a contract providing Biological Services to the US Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District We are currently looking to quickly fill a full time Fisheries Technician position at Little Goose Dam near Dayton Washington This position is expected to work approximately 40 hours per week with the possibility of overtime The pay rate for this position is 2522 per hour plus an additional 509 per hour toward health and welfare benefits Health and welfare dollars may be reduced if participating in employer sponsored benefit plans We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible with an anticipated start in early September This seasonal position is expected to continue through November 12 Although this position is advertised for work at Little Goose Dam there may be opportunities for additional work at other sites including Lower Granite McNary and Ice Harbor Dams depending on project needs Housing may be provided for this position and is located approximately 30 minutes from Little Goose Dam

Essential Functions

Assist with sampling fish at USACE hydroelectric projects including juvenile salmonid and non salmonid species identification identifying fin clips weighing and measuring fish and identifying injuries and diseasesAccurately record information in spreadsheets and collate and summarize information for weekly and annual reports Conduct juvenile and adult fishway inspections of the dam and fish facility to ensure operations follow criteria established in the USACE Fish Passage Plan Identify piscivorous avian predators Produce accurate weekly reports distributed to state and federal agencies

Desired Qualifications

Experience as a fisheries technician or biologist evaluating the health of juvenile salmonids Experience with fish handling and anesthetizing fish Work experience at a large hydroelectric project smolt collection facility Experience with Microsoft Office including Excel Word and Access Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide range of personalities Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to accurately interpret and follow established protocols guidelines and procedures Ability to meet USACE requirements and security clearances to work at dam sites on the Snake and Columbia Rivers including approximately eight hours of online training prior to the first onsite shift Knowledge of Snake and Columbia Rivers fish species Education Bachelors or Associates degree in a natural resources field or closely related discipline with relevant work experience

Additional Requirements
