Job summary

A leading environmental firm is seeking a part-time Lab/Field Technician based in Ludington, Michigan. The role involves setting up scientific gill nets, sorting and managing captured fish, and ensuring facility cleanliness. Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma and ideally some college education in environmental sciences. Experience with boats and knowledge of freshwater fish are preferred. The position is temporary with varied shift schedules, contributing meaningfully to fisheries management efforts.

Qualifications

• An attitude and commitment to participating in an employee-owned culture is a must.
• Experience with small boat operations is preferred.
• Knowledge of freshwater/Great Lakes fish species is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setting and lifting scientific gill nets on Lake Michigan.
• Sort captured fish into species and size groups.
• Count, measure, and weigh fish.
• Mend and repair gill nets.
• Keep the facility clean.
