Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma; BS in accounting preferred.
  • 1–2 internships in fiscal/accounting required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, including pivot tables.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounts payable.
  • Experience with MIP, Timberline, or One-Site is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral English communication.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with billing funders and backup documentation.
  • Produce expense analysis and additional analyses as requested.
  • Assist with month- and year-end closing.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.
  • Adaptable with flexible schedule; able to work independently or in a team.
  • Comfort with technology and various software.

Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. Our programs are staffed by experts who help over 305,000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence program, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.

Position Summary

The Fiscal Assistant will help support the day-to-day Budget operations for Met Council’s Fiscal Departments.

  • Assist with billing funders and compiling necessary backup documentation.

Skill and Education Required
  • High School Diploma (Required), Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (preferred)
  • Fiscal/Accounting experience via 1-2 internships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (including pivot tables)
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of Accounts Payable
  • MIP, Timberline, and One-Site experience is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (English)
Compensation

$25 per hour
