Since 1850, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office has been providing law enforcement, court security services, and detention services to the people of Sonoma County. The Sheriff's Office is comprised of over 650 employees and approximately 100 volunteers. Servicing a county of over 1,600 square miles and population of over 500,000 people, the Sheriff's Office is responsible for primary law enforcement services of the unincorporated area, the Town of Windsor, and the City of Sonoma.
As a Fiscal Analyst in the Sheriff's Office you will manage budgets, approve expenditures, and track fiscal activity for assigned operational units. You will also have the following responsibilities:

Extra-help employees relieve or augment permanent staff. Temporary, extra-help employees are not in the classified civil service and do not have property rights to permanently allocated positions. In addition, they do not receive most employee benefits such as long-term disability insurance coverage, accrual of vacation, participation in the County retirement program, or eligibility to take promotional examinations. Temporary, extra-help employees are limited in their employment to a maximum of one calendar year. These employees must be off of work for three months before they can be re-employed on an extra help basis.
Extra-help employees who meet the eligibility requirements may qualify for a County contribution toward medical coverage.
This recruitment is being conducted to fill one temporary extra-help position in the Sheriff's Office. This employment list may also be used to fill future extra-help positions as they occur during the active status of this list. The Civil Service title for this position is Department Analyst.
*Salary is negotiable within the established range.
Work experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, one year of full-time professional level staff experience related to general administration, accounting, budgetary analysis, or human resources work including research, analysis, and preparation of written reports and recommendations would provide such an opportunity.
Any combination of course work and training which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, academic course work in public administration, business administration, management, accounting, political science, economics, statistics, English composition, psychology or closely related courses would provide such an opportunity.
Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.
