This position is critical to ensuring the Department’s compliance with statutory and federal requirements for the timely and accurate financial reporting of federal grant funds. The position provides comprehensive financial management and oversight of federal grants awarded by other State agencies, including preparation and submission of financial reports, maintenance of supporting documentation, transfer invoices, fund balance tracking, and Notices of Intent for departmental receivable grants. The role requires close coordination with other departments, Contracts, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and program staff to ensure the accurate reconciliation, monitoring, and reporting of federal funds. Given the volume and complexity of the grants managed, the position is essential to safeguarding federal funding, maintaining fiscal accountability, meeting reporting deadlines, and minimizing the risk of noncompliance, delayed reimbursements, or loss of grant funding.

The Connecticut Department of Correction is the agency responsible for corrections in the U.S. State of Connecticut. The agency operates 13 correctional facilities. It has its headquarters in Wethersfield. The DOC protects public safety by ensuring offenders serve their sentences of imprisonments in facilities that are safe, human, and provide re-entry programming.
The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction is a unified system; all sentenced and unsentenced offenders are supervised by the DOC. The Department also provides supervision for offenders on parole, community release, and other discretionary release programs.
In order to be considered for this job opening, you must be a current State of CT employee, who has worked for the state for at least six (6) months of full-time service or full-time equivalent service, absent any applicable collective bargaining language, and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. In a state agency, facility or institution this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in professional level fiscal and administrative functions.
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been at or above the paraprofessional level, requiring the exercise of some independent judgment in the application of basic principles and procedures in accounting, budgeting, purchasing or related fiscal administration functions.
NOTE: Connecticut Careers Trainee experience (target Fiscal/Administrative Officer or closely related class) is at the professional training level and above the paraprofessional level.
