Job summary

Merck in Rahway, NJ is seeking a Sterile Production Supervisor for 1st shift to lead a team of technicians in a GMP environment. You will drive daily operations, ensure quality and cost targets, and collaborate with the Operations Director on strategic shift initiatives.

The role requires aseptic/manufacturing experience, a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and strong leadership with a Lean mindset. 40-hour week with potential off-hours as needed; relocation absent for now.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Science, Engineering or any technical field, or at least 7 years experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or processing.
• Minimum (4) years’ experience in a functional area such as operations, quality, or engineering.
• Preferred: 2+ years aseptic/sterile drug product manufacturing; 2+ years in a heavily regulated industry; 2+ years of direct supervisory experience; Lean knowledge; audit experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of a team of production technicians and set priorities to meet short-term objectives.
• Identify and resolve quality, technical, and operational issues within the unit; follow SOPs and guidance from the Operations Director.
• Manage budgetary objectives; ensure safety, cGMP compliance, and continuous improvement goals.
• Ensure shift supply performance metrics and drive Right First Time culture; develop and report monthly shift metrics.
• Promote continuous improvement and implement the Manufacturing Production System (MPS) to achieve long-range goals.
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development planning for direct and indirect reports.
• May require working outside routine hours (nights/weekends) as needed.
