Job summary

OMG Inc. is seeking a Saw and Planer Operator for Cortex to operate saws and planer machines, producing parts per specifications and Kanban requirements. The role emphasizes safe machine operation and lean manufacturing practices within a team environment.

The operator sets up equipment, reads job orders, adjusts controls, performs lubrication and preventive maintenance, and maintains an orderly work area while supporting production teammates to meet quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Promotes Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
• Set up the Saws and Planers, observe operation, and inspect work products to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
• Read job orders for product and job specifications such as calibrations, dimensions, tolerances, parts to be run, or special manufacturing instructions.
• Select and adjust the controls for the Saw Cutting and Planer Equipment as well as the cutting tools, to meet the specifications as they specify on the production run sheet, including speeds and feed rates.
• Perform routine lubrication and preventative maintenance inspections as required.
• Observe all safety rules.
• Assist other Saw and Planer Operators to set up the machines and prepare and ready the finished boards for the Punch Presses which stamp out the Cortex plugs.
• Maintain a neat and well-organized work area.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
