Job summary

Woodward, Inc. is hiring a 1st shift Machinist in Rockford, IL to operate CNC and manual machines, set up fixtures, and inspect parts to meet tight tolerances. You will follow detailed work instructions, interpret blueprints, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

You will join a team focused on quality, safety, and efficiency with standard 7:00am–3:30pm hours and opportunities for professional development and benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC or manual machining equipment (Lathes, Mills, Swiss, OD/ID grinders).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T basics.
• Commitment to quality and adherence to SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multiple CNC or manual machines per specifications.
• Perform supporting operations and sub-assembly as required.
• Conduct 1st piece inspections and train in processes as needed.
• Follow SOPs and maintain production efficiency and accuracy.
• Interpret blueprints and apply GD&T where needed.
• Use inspection gauges to verify finished parts meet quality standards.
• Maintain 5S and tidy workstations; participate in continuous improvement.
