Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Saint George, UT is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and packaging equipment. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, read schematics, and install new equipment while minimizing downtime.

The role requires 2–4 years in maintenance within manufacturing, knowledge of electrical and PLC/HMI systems, and the ability to work independently or with a team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school or technical school preferred in electrical, PLC/HMI, mechanical, welding/fabrication, refrigeration, plumbing, etc.
  • 2–4 years of maintenance, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC, and HVAC or related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience on a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment.
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred.
  • Certification and/or license may be required during course of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and/or repairs (planned, unplanned, emergency) on production, processing, and packaging equipment and related systems following safety procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections for reliability and performance.
  • Read and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance.
  • Support installation of new equipment.
  • Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Complete work orders timely with high quality standards.
  • Maintain communication with other departments and management about problems affecting efficiency.
  • Document all repairs and required information per SOPs.
  • Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes using continuous improvement mindset.
  • Anticipate parts requirements and follow purchasing procedures.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and comply with health and safety regulations and GMP requirements.
