Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to manage preventative maintenance and operate in a multi-craft environment supporting cooling towers, boilers, and plant utilities. You will perform routine and emergency maintenance, monitor systems, and coordinate with the Maintenance Planner.

The role requires PLC and VFD knowledge, reading schematics, and able to work with engineering on projects. Strong communication and adherence to SQF, GMP, and LOTO are essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED required.
• Associates degree or certification in a technical field preferred.
• Mechatronics Certifications for Levels 1-7 completed.
• 5-7 years of hands-on manufacturing maintenance experience, preferably in a food manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical maintenance; preventative maintenance experience.
• Skilled in PLC programming languages.
• Effective verbal and written communication for technical to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of SQF, GMPs, LOTO and Lean principles.
• Ability to support engineering on projects and equipment redesign.
• Reading blueprints/schematics and operating basic machining equipment.
• Proficient with MS Office and general office tools.
• Collaborative with Meijer leadership.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on utilities in a multi-craft environment.
• Conduct routine chemical testing and adjust operational parameters for cooling systems.
• Monitor heating/ventilation and adjust controls for proper operation.
• Provide 24/7 automated process monitoring and action as needed.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Planner on supplies and vendor interactions.
• Perform Preventative, Predictive and Corrective Maintenance to extend machinery life.
• Notify leadership of unsafe equipment and recommend repairs or replacements.
• Suggest design improvements on existing and new equipment and systems.
• May train and direct other technicians and operators as needed.
• Partner with Maintenance Master/Manager on production goals and maintenance scheduling.
• Perform other duties as requested; maintain 200% safety accountability.
