Job summary

United Mechanical, Inc. in Union City, CA is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a range of processing equipment, conveyors, fans, and heavy machinery.

You will read blueprints, work with PLCs and HMIs, perform welding and fabrication, and ensure safety regulations are followed.

A full-time shift 5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. requires a proactive problem-solver with hands-on tools and independent work style.

Qualifications

• Available to work full-time first shift 5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Strong electrical maintenance knowledge including 3-phase systems, VFDs, and controls.
• Solid mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
• Proficient with hand and power tools; own basic set of tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance/repairs on processing equipment (air compressors, conveyors, fans, motors, pneumatic tools, gearboxes).
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and ensure reliability.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical failures quickly.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals.
• Work with process automation components (sensors, transformers, relays, HMIs, PLCs).
• Install/repair machinery including gearboxes, pumps, hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Maintain maintenance logs and service records.
• Follow OSHA regulations and safety policies.
• Operate lifts and material handling equipment.
• Rig and relocate heavy components using forklifts/boom lifts/overhead cranes.
• Fabricate steel structures using welding equipment and torches.
• Communicate with supervisors and team members about status.
• Perform additional duties as required.
