Job description

First shift building cleaner - Sandburg Middle School

Join us as a First shift building cleaner at Sandburg Middle School with Robbinsdale Area Schools.

Position Details

Type: Full-time building custodian
Location: Sandburg Middle School
Shift: First shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Hours: 8.5 hours per shift, including 8 hours paid work and 30 minutes unpaid meal time
Schedule: 52 weeks per year
Salary: Category VII, $18.56 to $20.98 per hour based on the 2024-2025 salary schedule, plus benefits

Responsibilities
  • Report to the head day/night custodian, Facilities Program Director, and Director of Buildings and Grounds.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas using appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Set up rooms for conferences, classes, and events.
  • Care for and clean equipment, tools, and work areas.
  • Complete tasks within established timelines and quality standards.
  • Use work time efficiently and effectively.
  • Practice fiscal responsibility regarding methods, supplies, equipment, recycling, utilities, and the environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Sufficient reading skills for material data sheets.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Knowledge of cleaning products, procedures, and equipment preferred.
  • Ability to work alone using ladders, equipment, and chemicals safely.
  • Assist in loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate cleaning equipment involving twisting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Use chemicals safely per manufacturer instructions.
  • Perform inspections in various positions and heights, including rooftop assessments and ladder work up to 20 feet.
  • Shovel snow and ice as needed.
