Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a First Line Risk & Control Associate Director in the CityScape area of Phoenix to lead risk management programs within the bank’s framework.

You will manage a team, evaluate risk strategies, and drive control enhancements while partnering with business units to meet regulatory standards and corporate expectations. Strong leadership and deep banking risk knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience in Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Internal Audit or similar field.
• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• Advanced to expert knowledge of control testing.
• Previous leadership experience required.
• Advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposits, loans, treasury and other banking services.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory obligations, rules and industry standards.
• Experience developing and implementing new controls and action plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, quantify, and report risk across the Bank to enable risk-based decisions.
• Lead a team in performing Risk and Control Assessment walkthroughs and consult on processes.
• Develop and enhance controls to mitigate legal, regulatory, and other business risks.
• Collaborate with business units to improve the control environment and resolve issues.
• Drive risk awareness and governance through training and performance management.
• Lead and develop a team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
