Williston Central School (WCS) is seeking a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) / Robotics Club Coach who is organized, inclusive, and passionate about guiding students through the exciting world of STEM. This individual will play a pivotal role in fostering a creative, hands-on learning environment where students in grades 4-8 build confidence, solve real-world problems, and develop lifelong learning habits.

The successful candidate will maintain a positive and encouraging demeanor, ensuring all team members feel supported while they navigate the engineering, coding, and research components of the FLL program.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead the FLL team through the season, helping students set realistic goals and coordinating team meetings.
  • Work closely with the school to specifically invite and support students who have been historically marginalized in the fields of Computer Science and robotics.
  • Teach the principles of robotics or facilitate instruction from mentors, nurturing a sense of ownership among students for their projects.
  • Manage tournament registrations, team communications, and serve as the primary liaison for FLL guidelines between the team, families, and volunteers.
  • Model and help students embrace the FIRST LEGO League Core Values: Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

  • Recent experience with FLL Robotics and basic computer troubleshooting skills (e.g., file management and Bluetooth connectivity).
  • The ability to establish a professional rapport with students, staff, and families while displaying kindness and patience.
  • The availability to coach twice per week in the fall, with increased meeting frequency leading up to the Vermont State Competition in late January.

This position offers compensation per Category "B" of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The schedule requires an average commitment of 5 hours per week—including preparation and sessions—running from September 2026 through the end of January 2027.
