Job summary

Rutland Grade School is seeking a First Grade Long-Term Substitute Teacher to cover a maternity leave. The teacher will assume all duties of the regular classroom teacher, including instruction, classroom management, and communication with students, parents, and staff.

The position is anticipated to begin in early December 2026 and end in early March 2027, with duties spanning from instruction to collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college.
• Valid teaching certification/license for the state of Illinois.
• Experience teaching at the elementary level.
• Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assume all duties of the regular classroom teacher, including instruction and management.

• Maintain classroom routines and expectations.
• Cover maternity leave from early December 2026 to early March 2027.

Duties

Rutland Grade School is seeking applications for a First Grade Long-Term Substitute Teacher to cover a maternity leave. Candidates will be responsible for assuming all duties of the regular classroom teacher, including classroom instruction, classroom management, and communicating with students, parents, and staff members. This position is a nticipated to begin around early December, 2026 and ending date early March, 2027.

• Substitute Teacher Credentials
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Valid teaching certification/license for the state of Illinois.
• Experience teaching at the elementary level.
• Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to an existing classroom environment and a new school culture.

Salary/Benefits

First two weeks current substitute rate. After the two weeks, per the current teacher salary schedule.
