Job summary

Legacy Industries is seeking 12 skilled 1st Class Ship Fitters / Structural Fitters to join our Field Operations team. In this full-time role, you will fit and assemble steel structures on marine vessels including tugboats, push boats, and small barges.

You’ll perform project preparation, steel layout and fitting, and hands-on fabrication and welding of structural components, reading blueprints and interpreting specifications, while upholding safety and quality standards on a busy shipyard site.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of shipyard/marine fitting experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Skilled in burning, beveling, and steel fabrication.
• Drug test and physical required.
• No formal education or certifications required; skills will be tested onsite.

Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble steel structures for marine vessels
• Lay out and fabricate steel components to specification
• Burn, wash, and bevel steel with hand torches
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications
• Measure, cut, and install structural plate, pipe, beams, and related components
• Conduct quality inspections on assembled parts
• Adhere strictly to safety and quality standards on site
