Job summary

Con Edison is seeking a Senior Attorney to defend the Company in complex tort and premises liability matters, partnering with an in-house team to drive litigation strategy. Role focuses on leading cases from inception through trial and appeal, with substantial responsibility for discovery, motions, and strategic guidance.

The ideal candidate has a Juris Doctorate, admission to the NY Bar, and 8 years of personal injury experience, including 3–5 years as first chair in NY state courts.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and tort litigation experience required.
• Licensed to practice law in New York; 8 years of personal injury experience.
• 3–5 years of First Chair Trial experience in NY state courts required.
• Driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior trial attorney managing a high-volume docket of complex personal injury, tort, and premises liability matters.
• Independently lead cases from inception through trial, resolution, and appeal as needed.
• Lead all phases of discovery including depositions, site inspections, and evidentiary record shaping.
• Represent the Company in hearings, mediations, and trials with high complexity and business impact.
• Provide strategic legal guidance and draft high-impact pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
• Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to building a high-performing in-house team.
