Job summary

Orion Placement seeks an experienced civil litigator in Atlanta to begin as second chair on complex medical malpractice cases and progress to first-chair responsibility as readiness is demonstrated. The role offers a base salary between $180,000 and $220,000, with discretionary bonuses during the first two years and an uncapped case bonus after year two.

A flexible hybrid schedule is available, with remote options for exceptional candidates outside the Atlanta area.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Medical malpractice or complex personal injury background.
• Licensed in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
• Ability to independently take and defend depositions.
• First-chair or second-chair trial experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel for depositions and trials.
• Strong motion practice and case management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve initially as second chair on complex medical malpractice matters, working with senior trial counsel.
• Manage a sophisticated caseload involving medical, factual, and damages issues.
• Take and defend depositions independently, including experts and witnesses.
• Draft and argue substantive motions and manage discovery, strategy, and deadlines.
• Collaborate with medical professionals and nurse consultants to understand Labor & Delivery medicine.
• Develop case themes, evaluate liability and damages, and prepare for resolution or trial.
• Advance to first-chair responsibility on assigned cases as competency is shown.
• Support senior counsel as second chair on high-value matters.
• Travel as needed for depositions and case preparation.
