Job description

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for assisting in the handling of the day to day operations and management of an 18 hole golf course.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  1. Receive and record daily receipts utilizing a point of sale system for green fees, rent golf carts, annual tickets, food and beverage, alcoholic beverages, merchandise; sell golf equipment; balance cash drawer and prepare daily deposits of monies received. Record tee time reservations utilizing an electronic tee sheet and monitor play on golf course to ensure smooth play and customer satisfaction.
  2. Collect and account for monies received, prepare necessary financial reports for budgetary purposes, project annual budget line item expenditures and monitor actual results, in the absence of the Head Golf Professional; take corrective action where necessary to ensure that financial goals are met.
  3. Directly select, hire, train, schedule, and supervise Cart mechanic and Cart Attendants, oversee and implement the volunteer program. Ability to also assist with selecting, hiring, training, scheduling and supervising employees involved in the day-to-day clubhouse operations including: Food and Beverage Workers, Beverage Cart Attendants, Assistant Golf Professionals and Clubhouse Attendants.
  4. Directly supervise the daily golf car fleet including upkeep, maintenance, workflow process and rotation program. Ability to assist with planning, directing, monitoring and supervising a full service pro shop operation including but not limited to merchandise, food and beverage sales, workflow processes, asset control, supplies and equipment procurement, process invoices for payment, prepare and record daily administrative paperwork.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of clubhouse operations.
  • Knowledge of golf programs.
  • Knowledge of merchandising operations.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations to include the sales and service of alcoholic beverages.
  • Knowledge of golf tournament operations.
  • Knowledge of basic golf cart operations.
  • Knowledge of golf rules, regulations and golf etiquette.
  • Skill in planning, promoting and operating golf tournaments.
  • Skill in promotion of golf facilities and activities.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective communications with the public, staff and the maintenance department.
  • Skill in performing custodial duties.
  • Ability to perform a variety of physical skills, including but not limited to, seeing, carrying, kneeling, twisting body, standing, vacuum cleaning, sweeping, mopping, window cleaning and dusting.
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle.
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to telephone, calculator and personal computer.
  • Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 45 pounds; and push / pull 25 lbs. for 40 feet.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Qualifying Education and Experience :

High School Diploma or GED, plus three (3) years experience in clubhouse operations, which include pro shop operations, food and beverage operations and maintaining a fleet of electrical golf carts. Must possess valid Texas Operator's License, Class C. Completion of Level 1 or higher in the PGA-Professional Golf Management Program. Must have the ability to obtain Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Seller / Server certification within 3 days of hire and ability to obtain Food Handler's certificate or the ability to obtain within 7 days of hire.
