KCRG-TV9, the ABC affiliate serving Eastern Iowa, is seeking a meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather team. You will develop viewer-centered forecasts for newscasts, digital, and social media across platforms, including an entire weather-focused show.

Join a team forecasting severe weather to keep communities safe and informed; strong communication, graphics skills, and newsroom collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in atmospheric sciences required.
• Previous TV newsroom experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills with graphics/video support.
• Ability to create clear graphics for weather forecasts.
• Proficient posting to digital platforms and social media.

Responsibilities

• Analyze meteorological data to produce accurate forecasts.
• Deliver forecasts engagingly across platforms.
• Create engaging social media content around weather.
• Report live during severe weather events.
• Alert newsroom staff on severe weather threats.
• Represent the station at community events.
