Job summary

7Th Sky Techologies llc is seeking a Firmware Test Engineer to join our autonomous driving and automotive technology team in California. The role focuses on embedded firmware validation, test automation, and system-level testing across ECUs, sensors, and vehicle platforms.

You will design and execute comprehensive test strategies, develop Python-based automation, and collaborate with firmware, hardware, and validation teams to improve coverage and ensure production-quality firmware in a hybrid

Qualifications

• 5+ years of firmware/embedded testing experience.
• Strong embedded firmware validation and verification.
• Hands-on Python test automation experience.
• Proficient in C/C++ and embedded systems.
• Experience with HIL/SIL testing and system-level validation.
• Familiar with CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART.
• Experience with CANoe, CANalyzer, CAPL or equivalent tools.
• Understanding of ECU, sensors, and device drivers.
• Experience creating detailed test cases, procedures and reports.
• CI/CD experience and Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and execute firmware validation and verification test plans for embedded automotive systems.
• Design and maintain automated test frameworks for firmware and embedded systems.
• Perform unit, integration, functional, regression, system, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Validate firmware functionality across ECUs, sensors, controllers, and embedded platforms.
• Develop Python-based test automation and diagnostic tools.
• Perform CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART testing and use CANoe/CANalyzer.
• Analyze firmware logs, traces, crashes, and test results to identify root causes.
• Debug issues across hardware, firmware, drivers, and system interfaces.
• Collaborate with firmware developers to reproduce and resolve defects.
• Maintain automated regression suites and improve test coverage.
• Participate in design reviews, requirements reviews, and defect triage.
• Support root-cause analysis and verification of software/firmware fixes.
