7Th Sky Techologies llc is seeking a Mid level Firmware Test Engineer in California for a hybrid role with an autonomous vehicle client. You will lead embedded firmware validation, test automation, and system-level testing across ECUs, sensors, and automotive platforms.

The role emphasizes developing test strategies, automating regression, and collaborating with firmware, hardware, and validation teams to ensure production-quality firmware. Strong C/C++, Python, and CAN tools are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in firmware, embedded software, or hardware/software testing.
• Hands-on with embedded firmware validation and verification.
• Proficient in Python test automation.
• Strong C/C++ and embedded systems knowledge.
• Experience with HIL/SIL testing and system-level validation.
• Experience with CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART.
• Familiarity with CANoe, CANalyzer, CAPL or equivalent tools.
• Understanding of embedded hardware, ECUs, sensors, and device drivers.
• Ability to create detailed test cases, procedures, and validation reports.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD environments.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute firmware validation and verification plans for embedded automotive systems.
• Design and maintain automated test frameworks for firmware and embedded systems.
• Perform unit, integration, functional, regression, system, and HIL testing.
• Validate firmware across ECUs, sensors, controllers, and embedded platforms.
• Develop Python-based test automation and diagnostic tools.
• Test CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART communications.
• Utilize Vector CANoe/CANalyzer for diagnostics and network testing.
• Analyze logs and traces to identify root causes; debug across hardware and firmware.
• Collaborate with firmware developers to reproduce and resolve defects.
• Develop test cases from firmware requirements and system specs.
