Zebra is seeking a Firmware/Software Engineer, Professional II for a hybrid role in Lincolnshire, IL. You will design, develop, and test firmware for Thermal printer products, create documentation, and participate in code reviews.

The role requires strong C/C++ skills, embedded firmware experience, and familiarity with RTOS and POSIX concepts. The position is on-site three days a week with a hybrid work model.

Develops testing and troubleshooting strategies, devices, and systems for firmware. Integrates firmware to maintain functionality, throughput, and consistency. Develops user documentation. This is a hybrid position working on-site at our corporate office located in Lincolnshire, IL for a minimum of 3 days a week.**Responsibilities:*** Designs, develops, and tests on a variety of firmware assignments that constitute a portion of a larger project for the organization’s Thermal printer products and solutions.* Develops and tests documentation which describes the specific firmware functionality.* Participates and provides some input in project code reviews.* Runs software tests designed by more experienced engineers.* Reviews test results and perform root cause analyses to identify problems.* Provides recommendations and implements solutions to complex issues. Ensures compliance with quality processes and standards.* Makes changes to or upgrades existing firmware. Enhance and improve existing technologies to apply to new solutions.* Makes and implements recommendations to immediate team to enhance performance and improve productivity.* Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems.* Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.* Receives general instructions on routine work, new projects or assignments.* May provide guidance to non-exempt personnel.* Primary intra-organizational with occasional inter-organizational and external customer contacts on routine matters* Grow competency on wide range of Product framework, HALs, Linux Kernel drivers from Peripheral and Network communication, and real time controls.* Develops positive relationships with other company functions involved in the design, test, and implementation processes.* undefined**Minimum Qualifications:*** Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related fields) with 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree in engineering (Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related fields) with no experience.* Significant experience delivering platform product embedded firmware development.* Proven experienced in programming languages C/C++**Preferred Qualifications:*** Development experience in I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN, Modbus, WLAN, PWM, ADC, Bluetooth, Ethernet, others Microcontroller peripheral.* Good knowledge in the use of Oscilloscope, Bus analyzer, emulator and other firmware debugging tools.* Familiar with electrical interface, schematic diagram, electronic component specification and datasheet.* Good understanding in embedded RTOS and POSIX implementation including scheduling policy, synchronization methods, Interrupt Service Routine, external library integration, FileSystems, Memory allocation.* Preferred experience with Stepper motor, network, MQTT, and security.* Participate in Agile (SCRUM/KanBan) development process* Experience of prototype board bring up, bootloader development, ARMCC toolchain is a plus.**Equal Opportunity Employer:**Zebra is an equal opportunity employer.
