Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Firmware Engineer to join the Reality Labs organization in Sunnyvale, CA. You will design, develop, and validate embedded firmware for next-generation devices, collaborating across hardware and software teams to meet system requirements and deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Ideal candidates bring strong C/C++ skills, hands-on MCU experience (Nordic/STM32), RTOS (Zephyr) familiarity, and solid understanding of peripherals and debugging in production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with MCUs (Nordic preferred) and STM32.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
• Experience with peripherals (USB, SPI, MIPI CSI/DSI, I2C, UART, GPIO).
• Proven production-quality, fail-safe firmware for low-power real-time systems.
• Knowledge of ARM Cortex M0/M3/M4 architecture, boot mechanisms, and interrupt priorities.
• Skills in low-level debugging and driver development.
• Experience with consumer electronics.
• Familiarity with embedded systems development tools and environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of RTOS or Zephyr; wireless protocols (Bluetooth, Zigbee).
• Understanding of hardware design and schematics.

This individual will work with the Reality Labs organization which helps people around the world come together through next generation Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality. The main function of a firmware software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical firmware software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests embedded software working with other Firmware engineers as well as engineers from other disciplines.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded systems and firmware.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
• Perform debugging, testing, and validation of embedded systems.
• Develop and maintain documentation for system designs and implementations.

Pay rate: $65-70/hr
