Heaviside Industries, Inc. seeks an embedded firmware engineer to design, implement, and debug software for microcontrollers and embedded Linux platforms, including Raspberry Pi. You will translate cross-functional requirements into robust firmware, and build MES integrations for production data and work orders.

The role emphasizes full-stack debugging, strong testing discipline, and documentation across hardware, software, and manufacturing teams, with ITAR considerations for U.S. operations.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and debugging firmware for microcontrollers and/or embedded Linux platforms.
• Translate cross-functional systems requirements into embedded software design.
• Experience integrating with APIs or external production systems (MES/ERP).
• Strong testing discipline with unit/integration tests and validation fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and debug firmware for microcontrollers and embedded Linux platforms.
• Translate hardware, controls, and manufacturing requirements into embedded software architecture.
• Build and maintain MES API integrations for data push/pull of work orders and recipes.
• Write tests and build validation fixtures to verify firmware against requirements.
• Debug field issues across hardware, firmware, and network layers.
• Document architecture, interfaces, and requirements traceability.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and manufacturing engineering throughout the lifecycle.
