Job summary

Abbott in Minnesota is seeking a Firmware Engineer for a 6-month on-site assignment in St. Paul. The role requires 3+ years of experience in firmware for low-power, real-time embedded systems, with C/C++ and embedded Linux.

The ideal candidate will contribute to medical device firmware, participate in design, analysis, integration and testing, and help maintain design controls documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of firmware experience in embedded systems.
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Experience with C and C++ in real-time embedded environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop firmware for real-time embedded systems.
• Perform detailed design, analysis, integration, and test.
• Maintain documentation related to design controls and quality guidelines.
• Support studies on functional and parametric product performance.
• Familiarity with Python scripting is preferred.
• Familiarity with GUI tools like QT and Squish is preferred.

Duties

• firmware design and development activities,
• including detailed design, analysis,
• integration and test of C, C++ for real-time (time-critical) embedded systems designs and embedded Linux systems.
• Modification and maintenance of medical devices, create, edit, and maintain documentation related to design controls and quality system guidelines,
• assist the team in studies on functional and parametric product performance.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as python is preferrable.
• Familiarity with GUI development tools such as QT and Squish is also preferred.
