Job summary

Southchip Semiconductor Technology in Cupertino, CA is seeking an embedded software engineer to design and implement low-level firmware for SOC power-management chips. You will contribute to firmware development, debugging, and integration across hardware and software teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in low-level embedded software development for SOCs, able to read/modify substantial codebases.
• Proficiency in C programming; ability to quickly comprehend and maintain embedded code.
• Familiar with CPU architectures (ARM, MIPS, PowerPC) and peripherals (interrupts, DMA, ADC, I2C).
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of C++/Java/Python for host-side apps (Linux/Windows).
• Exposure to USB, TCP/IP, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth protocols is a plus.

Requirements

• Experience in low-level embedded software development; hands-on experience with at least one SOC chip and familiarity with the operation of common peripherals.
• Familiar with at least one CPU architecture (ARM, MIPS, PowerPC, etc.), and with interrupt, DMA, ADC and I2C modules.
• A working understanding of hardware, and proficiency with lab instruments.
• Solid C programming foundation, with the ability to read and maintain a codebase of meaningful size quickly.
• Knowledge of one or more of C++/Java/Python is a plus, especially the ability to write and debug host-side (Linux/Windows) applications.
• Exposure to common protocol specifications (USB, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience with power-related devices such as LDO, BUCK and BOOST is a plus.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive attitude towards completing assigned tasks.

Bachelor's degree or above in Electronic Information Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.
