Insight Global is seeking a Firmware Engineer to support embedded firmware and software across ARM processors, microcontrollers, and x86 systems. You will engage throughout the product lifecycle from concept to production release in a hardware-software interface role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (CS/EE/Software Eng).
• 2+ years of firmware or embedded software development experience.
• Strong C and Assembly programming skills.
• Experience with ARM-based processors, SoCs or microcontrollers.
• Hands-on debugging with JTAG or similar tools.
• Linux OS experience and embedded software development.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and support HW/SW integration.
• Strong problem-solving in a cross-functional team.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded firmware and software for ARM SoCs and microcontroller platforms.
• Design, port, and support Linux device drivers for ARM-based products.
• Support custom x86 UEFI/BIOS development and modifications.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, manufacturing, and product teams to define firmware requirements.
• Assist in prototype builds, testing, and validation activities.
• Troubleshoot firmware, driver, and hardware integration issues.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and external engineering partners on firmware projects.
• Support product certification via documentation review and issue resolution.
• Investigate, track, and prioritize firmware-related defects and customer issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for firmware development and validation.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for engineering processes.
• Ensure firmware solutions meet customer requirements and end-user expectations.

Skills and Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of firmware or embedded software development experience.
• Strong programming experience with C and Assembly language.
• Experience developing firmware for ARM-based processors, SoCs, or microcontrollers.
• Hands-on experience debugging embedded systems using JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, or similar tools.
• Experience with Linux operating systems and embedded software development.
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and support hardware/software integration.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
