Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Firmware Automation Test Engineer (Python) to join our remote team in the United States. You will design, execute, and automate tests for embedded firmware, focusing on BIOS/UEFI validation and reliable software quality across multiple platforms.

The role requires strong Python-based testing, firmware debugging, and experience with embedded Linux. You will collaborate with engineers and partners to continuously improve testing methodologies and deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years’ of experience in embedded software testing and development.
• Strong Python-based test automation and firmware debugging experience.
• Experience in end-to-end test planning, execution, defect analysis, and release qualification.

What you’ll do:

• Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems and software tests.
• Execute and author testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portions of applications; identify and debug issues with code, recommending changes or improvements as needed.
• Analyse system designs to determine coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines.
• Develop and maintain manual and automated test cases, ensuring thorough test coverage of embedded software features and functionalities.
• Participate as a key member of project teams, collaborating with other software systems engineers and internal or outsourced development partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions.
• Collaborate and communicate regularly with internal and outsourced partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Lead or contribute to the validation and resolution of complex technical issues, facilitating effective team decision-making.
• Continuously improve testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance software quality and reliability.

What you need to bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years’ of experience in embedded software testing and development.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong BIOS/UEFI , firmware, and server platform validation knowledge.
• Experience in end-to-end test planning, execution, defect analysis, and release qualification.
• Hands-on expertise in Python -based test automation and firmware debugging.
• Ability to drive quality initiatives and collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
• Familiarity with AI/GenAI tools to improve test design, automation, debugging, developing AI agents to increase the productivity.
• Good with Python scripting and test automation development.
• Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile development practices.
• Proficiency with software systems design tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, C, Go).
• Expertise in software systems testing methodology, including creation and execution of test plans, debugging, and use of testing scripts and tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply these to complex system-level challenges.
• Experience designing software systems running on multiple platform types.
• Solid understanding of computer system architecture, devices, and communication protocols.
• Familiarity with embedded Linux, device drivers, and related technologies.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; mastery of English and local language.
• Ability to effectively communicate design proposals, negotiate technical options, and facilitate collaborative solutions.

• Proven leadership capabilities with a strong focus on execution and results.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of fault-tolerant systems and high-availability architectures is an advantage.
