Silicon Motion in Milpitas, CA is seeking a Firmware Application Engineer for SSD controller products. You will develop firmware features, debug issues, and perform root-cause analysis while collaborating with FAE and customers to resolve problems.

Requires 3+ years in software/firmware apps, SSD storage domain experience, and strong C/C++ skills. Travel may be required; Mandarin is a plus. Base pay reflects market norms and location in the Milpitas area.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in software/firmware applications engineering.
• Experience in SSD ARM or ARC micro-controller/firmware architecture.
• Experience in the storage industry in SSD, HDD, storage systems, or related technology.
• Understanding of storage interfaces including PCIe/NVMe or SATA.
• Strong experience in C/C++ programming and data structure.
• Hands on experience with JTAG/ICE debuggers.
• Experience with version control software like Git.
• Competent to work independently and in a small team.
• Willing to learn fast and act as a team player.
• Good oral, written and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and under multiple priorities.
• Ability to operate logic analyzer, oscilloscope, and protocol analyzer.
• Understanding of basic hardware schematic/layout design; hardware design experience a plus.
• Open to domestic and international travel.
• Mandarin speaking is a plus.

This position is Firmware Applications Engineer for SSD controller products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include

• Develop firmware features necessary to meet the product specification and customer requirements.
• Debug problems encountered during internal or customer firmware testing.
• Perform root cause analysis and make appropriate changes to correct the problem.
• Work directly with FAE and customers to resolve firmware issues.

Requirements

Estimated Base Pay Range (USD)

$150,000 - $200,000, $ per annum

The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
