Job summary

Five Rivers IT, Inc. is seeking a Firewall / IT Network Engineer to manage enterprise firewall infrastructure in a strict regulatory environment. The role requires 5+ years of network engineering experience and hands-on work with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco NX-OS, and IOS, on-site in Miami/Plantation, FL.

You will lead IT-OT segmentation projects, ensure CIP compliance, mentor staff, and drive automation across 20,000+ rules and multiple data centers. Immediate start with ASAP urgency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in network engineering or a related field.
• NERC CIP experience, especially CIP-005 / Electronic Security Perimeter is preferred.
• Experience with IT-OT segmentation and regulated infrastructure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise firewall infrastructure with a high change request load and zero impact.
• Oversee 20,000+ firewall rules for key business operations.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple data centers.
• Mentor and develop team members.
• Design and deploy network infrastructure and pre-empt issues.
• Perform complex troubleshooting with advanced diagnostic tools.
• Ensure network operations comply with NERC CIP and regulations.
• Lead Firewall Engineer on IT-OT segmentation projects.
• Perform quarterly CIP-005 compliance assessments across 120+ segments.
• Drive automation of firewall rule management with zero violations.
• Handle other job-related duties as assigned.

Role overview

The team supports critical infrastructure for the largest clean energy provider in North America. The role combines deep technical skill, technical leadership, and a understanding of regulatory knowledge (NERC CIP is what they will have to learn).

Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise firewall infrastructure, processing 450+ change requests a year with zero network impact
• Oversee implementation and maintenance of 20,000+ firewall rules supporting NextEra Energy and FPL business operations
• Provide technical leadership across multiple data centers and drive continuous improvement
• Mentor and develop team members
• Design, plan, and deploy network infrastructure, and find and fix potential issues before they affect operations
• Perform complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis with advanced diagnostic tools
• Ensure network operations comply with NERC CIP and other regulatory requirements
• Serve as Lead Firewall Engineer on critical IT-OT network segmentation projects
• Perform quarterly Electronic Security Perimeter (CIP-005) compliance assessments across 120+ network segments and stay audit-ready
• Drive automation of firewall rule management, with zero security violations and zero customer impact
• Handle other job-related duties as assigned

Must-have skills

• Palo Alto firewalls

• Ability to multi-task projects, with strong interpersonal and analytical skills

Strong preferences
