Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Cybersecurity Technical Staff member to maintain core and perimeter firewalls, monitor complex networks, and support DNS, load balancers, and remote access solutions across unclassified and classified environments. The role offers opportunities at Tech Staff 1 or 2 levels with corresponding salary bands, requiring a BS in CS/IS and 2–5 years of related experience.
The position is onsite in Los Alamos, NM, with on-call duties and potential leadership of
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall technologies.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and routing protocols.
- Basic cybersecurity principles and defense-in-depth concepts.
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain core and perimeter firewalls.
- Monitor firewall logs and security events.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of firewall connectivity issues.
- Document firewall rule changes and maintain configuration records.
- Lead complex firewall projects and migrations (level 2).
