Palo Alto Firewall Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Palo Alto Firewall Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise firewall and network security solutions. This role will be responsible for maintaining a secure, scalable, and resilient network environment across on-premises and cloud infrastructures while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business and security objectives.
You Will
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including policies, NAT, VPNs, and security profiles.
- Manage firewall rulebases, ensuring adherence to security best practices and change management processes.
- Perform firewall upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and security issues across multiple environments.
- Support and maintain site-to-site and remote-access VPNs.
- Analyze traffic logs, threat logs, and security events to identify and remediate risks.
- Collaborate with network, security, and infrastructure teams on architecture and incident response efforts.
- Assist with firewall migrations, consolidations, and vendor transitions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise firewall and network security technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PanOS), including policy configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience working in multi-disciplined firewall environments, such as: Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet (FortiGate), Check Point, Cisco ASA / Firepower, or other comparable firewall platforms.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, VLANs).
- Experience with VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL).
- Familiarity with security concepts such as IDS/IPS, URL filtering, threat prevention, and zero trust principles.
- Experience supporting cloud or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across network and security layers.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., PCNSA, PCNSE, CCNP Security, NSE) are a plus.
