Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Massachusetts Driver's License, MA OEMS Paramedic and CPR certifications required.
• Firefighter I/II and Paramedic certification preferred; if applying as a paramedic student, proof of enrollment and MA OEMS certification during probationary period.
• Background checks, HRD Fire Physical Ability Test (PAT), HRD physical exam and psychological screening required after conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Attends training and fire prevention courses.
• Responds to fire alarms; operates pumps, ladders, hoses, and extinguishing equipment.
• Ventilates buildings; rescues and administers first aid to injured persons.
• Performs fire drills and training in firefighting and first aid.
• Maintains and inspects fire department property and equipment.
• Relays instructions; communicates location of alarms to dispatcher.
