Firefighter/Paramedic (Lateral Entry)

The City of Springfield is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic (Lateral Entry)!

This opportunity is for experienced professionals seeking to continue their career with Springfield’s progressive and community-focused fire department

Eligibility (Lateral Entry)

Applicants may be considered for appointment through the lateral-entry process, without participating in a competitive civil service examination, if they meet all of the following criteria:

1. Are currently employed as a Firefighter/Paramedic by a Fire/EMS agency, or have been employed and compensated in that role within the past ninety (90) days
2. Hold current State of Ohio Firefighter II and Paramedic certifications
3. Possess at least one (1) year of paid experience as a Firefighter II/Paramedic, whether with their current age
