Job summary

City of Brookfield is seeking a Paramedic/Firefighter/Equipment Operator to support the Brookfield Fire Department’s fire suppression, EMS, public education, and maintenance activities. This role involves operating assigned apparatus efficiently and delivering advanced emergency medical care to resolve emergencies promptly.

Essential duties include teamwork on equipment, life support, pre-trip vehicle inspections, scene operations, and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Valid Firefighter II certification at time of application.
• Hazardous materials operations training.
• Valid Wisconsin EMT-P license at appointment time.
• Driver/Operator Pumper training completion; may be obtained after employment.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license; photocopy required.
• Availability to work a 48-hour rotational shift.

Responsibilities

• Operates fire equipment as a team member.
• Provides basic and advanced life support services.
• Completes pre-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
• Operates all Department apparatus at emergencies.
• Promotes rapid extinguishing of fires and resolution of emergencies.
• Performs hazardous materials assessment, containment and cleanup.
• Performs preventative maintenance on fire apparatus and equipment.
• Develops and presents public education programs.
• Code enforcement duties as assigned.
