Qualifications

• Must possess a valid State of California Paramedic license with ACLS certification at time of appointment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District. Firefighter Endorsement or Commercial driver's license with applicable endorsements will be required by end of probationary period.
• A current Health Care Provider CPR certification.
• CPAT issued within the last 24 months; CPAT not required for lateral appointments.
• Current PHTLS or ITLS and PALS or PEPP certifications required by time of conditional offer of employment.
• Residency in California no more than 200 road miles of the Fire District Boundary by completion of the Fire/EMS Academy.
• Note: for out-of-state candidates, National Registry certification and ACLS required; must apply for CA Paramedic license and obtain by appointment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Firefighter/Paramedic on a 48x96 schedule across diverse incident types.
• Participate in ongoing training, committees, and specialty teams (HazMat, Rescue, CERT, etc.).
• Contribute to community outreach, education, and use of new technology.
• Maintain required licenses, certifications, and fitness evaluations annually.
• Support district initiatives and safety programs, including EMS and field operations.

Salary while on shift includes a holiday differential, FLSA differential, as well as a Paramedic differential. Differentials will be applied when serving in a paramedic/shift assignment after successful completion of the recruit academy and paramedic provisional assignment.

3. Must reside in California no more than 200 road miles of the Fire District Boundary by completion of the Fire/EMS Academy.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Firefighter I/II certification, Auto Extrication, Firefighter Survival, RIC Operations,
• HazMatFRO, Rescue Systems I, Confined Space Operations, Driver/Operator 1A,EVOC

NOTE: FOR OUT-OF-STATE CANDIDATES THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED AS OUTLINED BELOW:

1. Must possess a valid National Registry certification and valid ACLS certification at time of appointment. Must have applied for a State of California Paramedic license by time of application and must possess a valid State of California Paramedic license by time of appointment.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.
4. A current Health Care Provider CPR certification.

The following minimum qualifications are also required as outlined below:
