Job summary

San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is hiring Firefighter/Paramedics to support community safety with a 48x96 schedule. Candidates must hold a California Paramedic license with ACLS and be at least 18 years old, with a valid CA driver’s license and CPR certification.

College degree preferred and CPAT/PHTLS/ITLS/PALS/PEPP certifications are highly valued. Recruitment closes Oct 1, 2026, for a February 2027 Academy.

Salary while on shift includes a holiday differential, FLSA differential, as well as aParamedic differential. Differentials will be applied when serving in a paramedic/shift assignment after successful completion of the recruit academy and paramedic provisional assignment.

The following minimum qualifications are required:

1. Must possess a valid State of California Paramedic license with ACLS certification at time of appointment.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.
4. Must possess a valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District. Firefighter Endorsement or Commercial driver’s license with applicable endorsements will be required by end of probationary period.
5. A current Health Care Provider CPR certification.

PLEASE ATTACH REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES TO APPLICATION:

1. Must possess a valid State of California Paramedic license with ACLS certification at time of appointment.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.
4. Must possess a valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District. Firefighter Endorsement or Commercial driver’s license with applicable endorsements will be required by end of probationary period.
5. A current Health Care Provider CPR certification.

The following minimum qualifications are also required as outlined below:

1. Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) issued within the last 24 months, by time of conditional offer.CPATnot required for lateral appointments.
2. Current PHTLS or ITLS and PALS or PEPP certifications required by time of conditional offer of employment.
3. Must reside in California no more than 200 road miles of the Fire District Boundary by completion of the Fire/EMS Academy.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications are highly desirable. To ensure these certifications are considered during the application review, a copy of the certifications must be submitted, along with the required supporting documentation, at the time of application.

• Firefighter I/II certification, Auto Extrication, Firefighter Survival, RIC Operations,
• HazMatFRO, Rescue Systems I, Confined Space Operations, Driver/Operator 1A,EVOC

NOTE: FOR OUT-OF-STATE CANDIDATES THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED AS OUTLINED BELOW:

1. Must possess a valid National Registry certification and valid ACLS certification at time of appointment. Must have applied for a State of California Paramedic license by time of application and must possess a valid State of California Paramedic license by time of appointment.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.
4. A current Health Care Provider CPR certification.

The following minimum qualifications are also required as outlined below:

1. Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) issued within the last 24 months, by time of conditional offer.CPATnot required for lateral appointments.
